I provide bespoke online learning and education tailored to children’s needs to help them reach their full potential. Lessons are individually planned to help build confidence and self-belief, enabling children to learn at their own pace.
Online tuition takes place using zoom.us, for video, and also BitPaper.io as our collaborative virtual whiteboard. I also share virtual resources through Zoom, this combination ensures engaging and interactive lessons.
I offer a free half an hour no-obligation consultation via zoom to enable you and your child to meet me, to view how online tuition works, and to see if you feel I’m a good fit for your child.
If you would like to know more about the benefits of Online Tuition please visit my blog.
Standard Lessons last for one hour (other lesson durations are available upon request).
For safeguarding reasons it is expected that parents/guardians must be present in the house/venue for all children under 18 for the duration of their online lesson. They shouldn’t be left alone with me on the other end of the call. Also, all students should be dressed appropriately when on a video call.
You will need a laptop, pc or iPad/tablet, and a good internet connection. You will need a webcam if you do not have one built into your device. Most newer devices have microphones built-in but do check as you may need a separate one (a standalone or via a headset). A mouse works fine for most students, however, if you prefer you can purchase a graphics tablet which can be useful for ease of writing. If you use an iPad/tablet, you can use a stylus pen or your finger for writing.
Bitpaper and Zoom are very reliable but technical issues do sometimes happen. If you are experiencing issues logging on to your lesson please let me know as soon as possible.
Ultimately clients are responsible for logging in for online tuition on time, if you arrive late to your lesson the time will not be extended, the lesson will end at the designated time to enable the next student to have their full lesson.
There are some functionality issues with Chromebooks, so if possible I would ask you not to use them for lessons. I am unable to hand over control to the child in Zoom, therefore online games and resources are not possible, there are also issues with moving items in BitPaper which means the lessons end up being less interactive than originally planned which isn’t ideal.
Newer IPads are usually fine, but please be aware that you often cannot view zoom (video) at the same time as BitPaper. However, on some models, it is not possible to hand over control so this can make the lesson less interactive than originally planned. If your child prefers to use an iPad due to its touch screen, then the best compromise is to have Zoom on the laptop/pc, so online games, and resources can still be accessed and have BitPaper on the iPad.
I will send you a link (includes ID and Password) and instructions for Zoom before the first lesson, this link stays the same each week. Please keep it safe so you can find it for your lesson. All Zoom calls are password protected with the waiting room enabled, this means that no one else can enter the call.
I will also send you your unique link for BitPaper which is our virtual whiteboard which allows us both to write at the same time. Bitpaper has 100 pages, after this, a new unique link will be created. All your child’s links will remain accessible during the time you continue tuition with Serenity Education & Tutoring.
Please bookmark your BitPaper links so that they are kept safe and you can ensure they are open before the start of each lesson.
